Barbican Estate
The Barbican flat here retains almost of its original features that go back to when the Barbican Estate was designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell & Bon in the 1960s including the traditional kitchen designed by yacht-makers Brooke Marine, the laboratory-like white tiled bathroom as well as all the original teak windows and identifiable barrel-vaulted ceiling.
The design aims to create a more layered, characterful take on Brutalism, bringing in textiles, ceramics, antiques, craft and lots of colour to sit alongside the sterner side of Modernism.
The project has been featured in The Modern House and Elle Decoration.
