Barnaby Covent Garden

Barnaby Covent Garden was the chocolate brand’s first outpost in London and Morrisstudio’s first commercial project.

Opening in 2024 on St Martins Lane, we oversaw the inception of the brand right through from its identity and positioning through to its interior and packaging design along with a team of collaborators.

At this — Barnaby’s first store — we wanted to honour the deeply-rooted history of chocolate making in the UK, specifically in the influences of Arts and Crafts design at Bournville, the Edwardian model town that was purpose built for workers at Cadbury.

From the tenon and tusk joinery detailing to the bespoke, handmade tiled floor (reminiscent of bars lined up to be chocolate coated) our mission was to celebrate craft in a modern setting in collaboration with brand identity designers Irving & Co, architects Built Works and illustrator Timba Smits.

The project has been featured in The World of Interiors, Wallpaper*, Dezeen, AJ Journal and Design Anthology.
